Roger Carrick and Mitchell Palmer just returned from a 10-day sustainable community development course in Israel, combining community social work with sustainable development and engineering. Roger is a PhD student studying engineering design, and Mitch is a 4th year student in Geomatics engineering.

The course was offered through a unique partnership between BEST at Lassonde and Technion University, and in partnership with Engineers Without Borders. It was an intensive learning experience focused around delivering material through a series of lectures, both in and out of the classroom, and hands-on experiences applying what we learned to working in a developing community in Haifa. The students have learned great opportunities in the mix of problem finding and problem solving strategies.
